Lifestyle Photography at the Beach

I think many would agree, the beach is a perfect backdrop for lifestyle photography. It’s a prime location for couples' photos, maternity shoots, family sessions, and more! Here are some of my tips to help you maximize that gorgeous scenery during your beach photoshoot.

Make the Most of the Sun, Sand, and Sea

Timing is everything. Golden hour happens twice a day, and it’s the perfect time to take those beach photos! Golden hour is generally about an hour after sunrise and an hour before sunset. Taking your photos during this timeframe will help you capture incredible light.

You likely chose the beach for your photos because of its beautiful landscape and views. To make sure that comes through in your photos, use the location to your advantage! Splash around in the water a little or get down in the sand. This will give a playful, natural look to your pictures and it might inspire some unique poses too!

Try to Relax

The beach is a place of peace, quiet, and tranquility. Make the most of the atmosphere by getting into the right state of mind for your photoshoot.

Wearing comfortable clothing is a must. The annoyance of constantly fidgeting with your outfit could come through in your photos. Try to pick clothing that you not only look good in, but you feel good in too. This will help you stay confident and relaxed.

Don’t go to your shoot hungry or thirsty! Make sure everyone has a snack and is hydrated before you start taking photos. The last thing you want is to be counting down the seconds during your session. Being able to fully live in the moment is key to those perfect beach pictures.

Take Time to Explore

There are so many amazing elements to incorporate into beach photos. Of course, you want to highlight the sand and the ocean, but don’t be afraid to get creative! If you see a dock or palm trees, explore how you can photograph with them.

Whether you’re working with a professional photographer, or just having fun with a beach photoshoot on your own, these ideas will make your pictures pop. If you’re looking to book a session in Northwest Florida, contact me
